Card security code (CSC) alternatively known as Card Verification Code (CVV2), Card Validation Code (CVC2) or Card Identification Number (CID) is usually a three (3) or four (4) digit number, which is an important new Internet security feature that now appears on the back of Visa, MasterCard, and Diners Club cards, usually in the signature field. American Express cards use a 4 digit CSC on the front of the card.
The CSC provides a cryptographic check and helps validate that the customer placing the online order actually is in possession of the credit card and that the credit/debit card account is legitimate.
Do I have to enter this Security Code?
YES, you must enter the code. Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club and American Express now require online stores to obtain the card security code for all cards that have a code printed on them. Orders cannot be processed without a valid CSC.
Where can I find the this Security Code?
- Visa, Mastercard and Diners Club Card Users
On the back of the card in the signature box, you should see either the entire 16-digit credit card number or just the last four digits followed by a special 3 digit code. This 3 digit code is your Card Security Code.
- American Express Credit Card Users
Look for the 4 digit code printed on the front of your card just above and to the right of your main credit card number. This 4-digit code is your Card Security Code.

Please note, there is a small percentage of credit cards that do not use a CSC. In these instances please enter in the CSC field 000 as your card security code.
